Marilyn provides leadership and direction to the Office of Administration and Planning and support to the president. She manages strategic planning, program review, institutional research, Board of Trustees support efforts, and executive level searches, as well as other various programs and initiatives. She has held this position since July 1985.
Melanie directly supports the Vice President of Administration and Planning as well as other senior staff in the office. Prior to her current role, she worked for Northwestern’s Institute for Sustainability and Energy, supporting their Executive Director and research group. Before joining Northwestern, Melanie spent years working in the non-profit and higher education sectors. She holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in International Business and a Master of Business Administration with an emphasis on marketing from Lewis University.

Katie provides leadership for business pertaining to the Board of Trustees, its committees, and the University community. In her role, Katie works closely with Vice President Marilyn McCoy and units across the institution to plan and facilitate Board of Trustees meetings that advance Northwestern’s strategic priorities. In addition, Katie oversees the office’s business processes. Prior to joining the Office of Administration and Planning in 2008, she was a student at Northwestern University and captain of the Women’s Golf Team. Katie has an MS in Higher Education Administration and Policy and a BS in Communication Studies from Northwestern University.

Nathan supports the work of the Board of Trustees by developing communications, contributing to agenda planning, and facilitating governance functions that enable Northwestern to achieve its strategic ambitions. Nathan has been a member of the Office of Administration and Planning since 2015. He maintains a part-time singing career and has been heard as soloist with regional orchestras and regularly sings with some of Chicago’s premier classical music organizations. Nathan holds a Master of Music from Northwestern’s Bienen School of Music and a Bachelor of Music from the University of Michigan. He recently completed a certificate in Business Administration at Northwestern.Sara supports the work of the Board of Trustees through data management, creation of surveys, attendance management, communications development, and content delivery. She joined the Office of Administration and Planning in 2016. Sara received her Bachelor of Arts in Sociology and English from the University of Illinois at Chicago and Master of Science in Integrated Marketing Communications from Northwestern University.
Justine is responsible for advancing the work of the Board of Trustees through the successful management and execution of Board meetings and the facilitation of Trustee engagement. Prior to joining the Office of Administration and Planning, she was the Academic Events Coordinator for the Strategy Department at Kellogg School of Management. Justine graduated from the College of Charleston with a BA in Theater, concentration in Performance.
Institutional ResearchAmit leads the Office of Institutional Research and its efforts to collect, integrate, and analyze institutional and external data to support institutional decision-making, planning, and policy development. Before this role, he was the Managing Director, Planning and Administration, at the Kellogg School of Management and helped develop infrastructure to advance the school’s thought leadership initiatives and to measure progress against the school’s strategic plan. Amit has previously held roles in the healthcare sector at Northwestern Memorial Hospital ranging from administrator for the Division of Hospital Medicine to process improvement leader and in the manufacturing sector leading continuous improvement activities at Saturn Corporation and RR Donnelley. Amit received his bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering from Northwestern University and his Master of Engineering degree from Vanderbilt University.
Debbie directly supports the Associate Vice President of Information and Analytics and the Associate Provost for University Enrollment on a variety of activities, including data collection, reporting, and analysis for both internal and external use. Prior to joining Administration and Planning in December 2004, Debbie served as Assistant Director of Cost Studies in the Office of the Controller for five years.
Paul Schatz is the Director of Institutional Research in the Office of Administration and Planning and has been with Northwestern University for 15 years. His role involves a variety of activities, including data collection, reporting and analysis for both internal and external use, and the creation, administration, and reporting of institution-wide surveys. Prior to joining Administration and Planning in 2007, Paul worked in the Office for Sponsored Research. He has a BS in Business from the Kelley School of Business at Indiana University, an MA in Public Policy and Administration from Northwestern University, and an MS in Data Science from Northwestern University.
Jason directly supports the Associate Vice President for Information & Analytics and the Associate Vice President of Program Review on a variety of activities, including data collection and reporting for both internal and external use. Prior to joining Administration and Planning in April 2015, Jason served as Research Analyst/Report Associate in the Office of the Registrar for five years. Jason completed a Bachelor’s degree in Organization Behavior and a Master’s degree in Information Systems from Northwestern University.
Anahit supports the Associate Vice President for Information and Analytics by leading efforts to advance University-wide faculty nominations for prestigious national honors and awards. She is a PhD Candidate in political science at the University of Illinois at Chicago, where she also received her MA and BA in political science. She is a lecturer at Lake Forest College, teaching courses in comparative politics and international relations. Her work on urbanization and tourism is published in the edited volume Cities, Sagebrush, and Solitude: Urbanization and Cultural Conflict in the Great Basin (University of Nevada Press, 2015), and her work on refugee policy in Europe is published in the Journal of Military and Political Sociology (2018).
In her role as Director of Planning, Kristi is responsible for leading unit-level strategic planning efforts and supporting cross-unit strategic planning activities. She also manages a portfolio of initiatives (Data Science Research Networking Luncheons, Lawrence B. Dumas Domain Dinners/Dialogues, and AI@NU) designed to foster and promote interdisciplinary research and connections across Northwestern’s schools and departments. Kristi joined the Northwestern community in 2017. Previously, she worked at Emory University in Atlanta, GA for 14 years in the Office of Global Strategy and Initiatives as well as the Center for International Programs Abroad. She holds a B.A. in English from Trinity University in San Antonio, TX and an M.Ed. in Student Personnel Services from the University of South Carolina in Columbia, SC.
Reporting to the Vice President for Administration and Planning, Megan leads the Program Review process and is responsible for the execution of reviews. Prior to joining Administration and Planning, she worked for Deloitte Consulting, where she advised companies on change management and communications related to mergers, technology adoptions and other organization transformations. Megan previously worked in the Office of Administration and Planning from 2006-2010, supporting key functions including Program Review. Megan has an MBA from the Kellogg School of Management and a BA in History from the Weinberg College of Arts and Sciences at Northwestern University.Katy is the Director of Program Review at Northwestern University. In this role, she provides strategic and programmatic support towards the execution and ongoing strengthening of the program review process. Katy directly partners with units throughout program review, specifically liaising with Institutional Research on the development of surveys and key data metrics to inform the reviews. Katy holds a bachelor’s degree in English Literature from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign, and a master’s degree in Higher Education Administration and Policy from Northwestern University. Katy joined the Program Review team in the Office of Administration and Planning in 2015.
Jordan directly supports the Associate Vice President of Program Review with the Program Review visits, schedule development, department finances, and other strategic projects for the OAP office. Prior to joining the Administration and Planning team, Jordan was the Program Manager for the Kellogg Board Fellows Program and Social Impact Programs at Northwestern's Kellogg School of Management. Prior to Northwestern, Jordan held positions in student affairs at Arizona State University and at Pearson. She holds a Bachelor’s degree in Community Health from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign and a Master’s degree in Higher and Postsecondary Education from Arizona State University.Melissa directly supports the Associate Vice President of Program Review. Prior to joining Administration and Planning, she most recently was a property manager for a condominium building in Chicago’s south loop. Prior to this, she served in a number of administrative roles at a K-12 independent school in Chicago, where she worked as a registrar as well as program coordinator. Melissa holds a Bachelor’s degree in Spanish from the University of Wisconsin-Madison.
